One of the easiest recipes I’ve ever made is also the most “Please-bring-those-meatballs-again!” recipe. It’s easy to make on the road — especially for football games. Just take your slow cooker and can opener and buy the ingredients when you reach your destination.
Easy Cranberry Meatballs
1 can of cranberry jellied sauce
1 jar of Chili Sauce
1/2 can of water
60 precooked, frozen meatballs
Mix first three ingredients in crock pot, stir in meatballs, let cook for 2-4 hours.

Before Christmas I discovered a recipe for Tequila-Bloody Mary Cherry Tomatoes with Margarita Dipping Salt in Oprah’s December 2006 magazine. I’ve made this dish twice and I’ve changed it quite a bit — primarily to make it easier. These have been a real
party surprise. Guests approach the dish with trepidation at first, but they want more after tasting the first one.
So I’m dubbing my version … Margarita Tomatoes

These chilly winter days are perfect for this treat that I’ve discovered. They are
simple and a big hit! You need a box of Puff Pastry. It’s frozen pastry layered upon layers that billow into puffy delights when baked, brie, blackberry jam and a jalapeno.
Brie Puffs
Thaw the puff pastry for 40 minutes. Roll it out so it is a bit thinne
Unwrap the pastry and cut 3-inch squares
Push into mini muffin cups and fluff the corners, leaving them sticking up
Put 3/8 inch cubes of brie in the middle
Bake at 400 degrees until the tips start to brown Read the rest of this entry »

Well, there’s new life to the remodel project. Darrell has glued oak edges around the bar to
create the borders for the granite tile. He spent quite a bit of time squaring everything up. I’ve got a couple of photos here.

The following is a selection of martini recipes collected from experts, friends and the Internet, along with a couple of my own concoctions.
As with any alcoholic beverages, moderation is essential and please don’t drink and drive. For the record, I have not tried all of these recipes. But my personal favorites are My Cranberry Margarita and My Clam Mary — Vickie Holbrook Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve test tasted a lot of margaritas…. and this one is truly the perfect one — like the one you get at Applebees. It’s not too sweet and the blend of orange liquors gives you a very smooth taste. I’ve found that 1800 Tequila works well and won’t send you to the poorhouse. If you buy only one orange liquor, buy Grand Marnier and use it again in place of the Cointreau. And remember: Enjoy responsibly. Read the rest of this entry »

A year ago — it aired again on Friday — my friend, Kris, called and told me to turn on Oprah because she was making her favorite martini recipe. When I arrived at the liquor store an hour later to buy Cointreau, the store clerk said I was the fourth or fifth person who wanted to buy the high-priced orange liquor in the past hour. She didn’t know why, but then I told her about Oprah’s show. They all had watched Oprah.
I left the recipe for the store clerk and printed a new one.
Imagine if you had that much power that whatever you praised or demonstrated, you could influence how many of something sells.
Well, maybe it’s because Oprah knows what’s worth promoting.. Her pomegranate martini is very classy and very perfect. Here’s the basic recipe. For more details, click here for a link to Oprah’s site.
Tip: Don’t forget to pour ice and water into your martini glass while you are mixing/shaking your martini. Recipe >
